WAIPUKURAU SALE Breeding Ewes The Maia hntnes GOOD INQUIRY EVIDENT Store sheep, which] constituted the principal yarding at to-day's sale at tWaipukurau, met with a firm market, wHch showed an impro-ving tendency •8 the sale progressed. The yarding of 4000 consisted largely of breeding ewes, including a few entries of annual drafts. Good 5-year- ewes sold fully an a par with the rates at last week's |air at- Stortfoid Lodge. Four-year «nd ypunger ewes were on keen inquiry, meeting with good competition. A Jbright, healthy tone prevailed, in which it wa& evident that there is fttill a good demand for useful lines. Lambs, generally, were not up to the quality seen at recent yardings, land the besj; 2-th wethers made to 514/2. Ewe lambs wero chiefly small grown and poorly done, being difficult jto trade. Aged fattening ewes off hard wountry were slow to sell to 12/-. In the fat pens ewes made freezing •achedtile rates, with a good pen of iprime wethers making 27/7. The few pens of station-bred store iteattle were of good quality. Fat and »xtra forward dehorned young bulJknsks, in splendid order, realised £11. The best 18-month Aberdeen Angus kteers brought £7 10/-. The few enIriea in the fat cattle pens were of jaegligible quality. Realisations were as under}-— STORE SHEEP. On aooount of Mr G. L. Jamieson. ^Wallingford, 255 guaranteed 5-year •warea, well mouthed, in good condition ;*nd etound, in good-aoing order, sold at 83/9. On account of Mr R. Stoddart, Porangahau, 201 guaranteed 5-year ewes, Well mouthed, in good store condition, and carryiag a good slipe, being a sound, useful breeding line. were pass«d at 21/9. On account of H. JB. Hill, Mango: rapa, 290 guaranteed 4 and 5-year ewes, weJl framed and spendidly mouthe^, a good breeding, early-shorn line, met With keen bidding to sell at 25/6. Cta account of the same vendor, 203 aimilarly agied ewes, being stronger in the wool tban the previous entry, particularly well mouthed, and sound, were not dear at 23/4. On account of Whakamutu Station, an. entry of early shorn medium grown ■ 2-th ewes, in good store order, sold well at 31/-. From. the same station, an entry of well-framed 4-year ewes, early shorn and in very gpod order, sold at 27/9. An entry of 91 very small grown woolly lambs, in very backward order inferior cull line, sold at 8/9. In from "Wimbledon, 56 well framed 5-year ewes, good mouths, carrying a good slipe, brought 24/9.
An entry of 100 small grown late shorn ewe lambs, in very poor order, were hard to sell at 13/-. On account of Mr j. W. Harding, Mt. .Vernon, 77 forward early shorn 2-th wethers, mixed in size, in fresh order, realised 24/2. An entry of 111 early-shorn, meclium- . grown 2-th ewes, in good condition, being a sound, useful, young breeding line, in fresh. order brought 32/6. An entry of 205 5 and 6-year ewes, xather low in the mouth, in quite fair order for another season's breeding, well woolled, brought 20/2. An entry of 372 small to mediumgrown black-faco lambs, in fat and forward condition. having been on chou inoellier for three weeks, made 18/7.This line were late lambs in healthy order* An entry of 89 small-grown, early shorn 2-th wethers, in healthy order, a useful carry-over proposition, brought 22/3. In off hard eountry under the ranges, 168 aged fattening ewes, in light condition, brought 12/4. An entry of small-grown shorn ewe lambs, a late line off hill eountry, in light order, made 20/9. On account Mr J. C. Nicholls, Hatuma, 103 BomnCy-cross woolly wether lambs, in forward condition, brought 18/6. These lambs were in better order than they appeared. On account Mr G. L. Jamieson, Wallingford, 137 early shorn, medium grown 2-th ewes, sound condition, sold at 28/2. On account G. Hunter Estate, Whakamutu, 130 early shorn medium framed 4-th ewes, in fresh, good store condition, a very useful breeding line, realised 29/1 . Down from the back of To tTri, 83 small-grown 2-th ewes, in light to medium order, made 25/-. Off the same property an entry of 99 5-yr. ewes, including a few 6-yr. ewes, fairmouths, in hardy order, realised 21/4. Off the same property an entry of small-grown 2-th wethers, medium grown, in sound oTder, sold at 22/10.STORE CATTLE Gri account of Mr E. J. White, Porangahau, 27 nicely grown Aberdeen Angus young bullocks, 'souie showing a, Hereford cross, in fat and forward order, having been particularly well dome, requiring very little finishing to be tnrned out as prime, were passed at £10 10/-. An entry of 41 medium-grown 18months Aberdeen Angus steers, quite well |jred, being in hardy order and sound, making a useful line of young cattle, was passed at £7 5/-. A further entry on account of Mr Jl J. White, Porangahau, of 15 Shorthorn and Hereford young bullocks in fat and forward order, many of them being in particularly prim6 order, an attractive entry of quality beasts . quickly topped off- in a butcher's paddock realised £11. An entry of 20 quite well-grown hardy Aberdeen Angus cross steers, iu good order, a useful entry of sound, healthy cattle, met the market at £7 10/-. Fiv© well-framed cows with 6 nicelygrown stnrdy calveg hy a Shorthorn bull at foot, sold at £8. FAT SHEEP 15 medium, early-shorn ewes, should hang up at 521bs, made I8/-4
