Mr Donald Carswell, of Maraekakaho is at present an inmate of tbe Hastings Soldiers' "Memorial Hospital. Sir Harry Lauder bas left Invercargill for Lake Wanaka, wbere be intends to do some fishing. Senior-Sergeant G. Sivyer has resum ed duty at Hastings, after spending bis annual leave at Wellington. Mr Gordon MacLean, Maraekakaho, is a patient at % prjvate hospital in Wellington. Tbe Rev. N. Burgess left Napier for Wellingfbon yesterday to attend tbe annual assembly of th© Congregational ChurchMr. L. E. Bfatfiwaite, qf Hastings, has been elected a member of tbe* executive committee of tbe Nationai Rifle Association. Canon C. G. Pearson,. recently appointed cbief overseas commissioner of the Toc H. movement ip. London, bas returned to Auckland. Mr. A. E. Mander bas resigned from the posftion of general secretary of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation, a post which he' has held for tbe last four years. Mr S. Emmett, who bas left Napier to take up a position witb the Post and Telegraph Department in Wellington in oonnection witb radio research work. was met ' before his departure by tbe staff of Messrs Lockyer's Ltd,, of wbicb he was a member, and presented with a fountain pen and peneU set by the principal, Mr T. B, Lockyer, and witb'a travelling case by his ^taff colleagues.
