WAIPUKURAU COUNTY
Monthly Meeting of C°uncil Exceptionally little business came before the Waipukurau County Council at its meeting yesterday. , Mr. A. C. Russell presided over Messrs. M. Tansey,, A. W. Elliott, W. Edgecombe, L. M. Monektou, P. F. Wall, H. T. Wright, and J! Swinburn. The clerk-engineer, Mr. R. B. Price, was also present. The clerk-engineer presented the following report, which wa/s adopted: — Hatuma Riding General work has been carried'out in this riding in the way of patching and clearing of culverts, etc., and the grader has worked four days on the Hatuma highway and three days "on riding roads. Several small. culverts provided for in the estimates will be installed during the coming monthj Mount Herbert Riding Trucks were engaged for three days patching on the unsealed portion of the Porangahau Highway, a total of 40 yards of metal fceing used. The corner on Middleton road has been cut back and metalled and a vast lmprovement is made. The sealing of racecourse highway will be commenced in about ten days' timo, weather permitting, and the mile should be completed in a little over a week. The power-grader worked four and ahalf days on main highways and two and a-half days on riding roads raking in metal.
Purimu Riding The contractor completed the metalling ; on Tourere-Whetukura road early this month, tho final payment having. I been made and application has been forwarded for the subsidy, amounting . to £225. The graders have been at work cutting channels and overhauling the Purimu roads gcnerally and this work is .being eontinued on tbie Flemington and Tourere roads at the time of writing. • . Patching has been done on Hamilton '3 and Robinson's roads. j The old wooden bridge below WhiteParsonS ' on the old Flemington road was again patehed up. This road carries a fair'amount of stock trafiic and a large pipe culVert may be necessary to make the crossing safe.
