ONGAONGA GROUP

The annual meeting of the Ongaonga Women's Institute was held on March 4, Mrs Haldane presiding. The Institute link in England wrote returning thanks for the Christmas gift sent. Mrs Diamond was appointed delegate to attend the annual meeting of the Southern Hawke's Bay Federation. Mrs Carr gave a full -account of the year's work and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The balance sheet was read and adopted. Competitions resulted as follow: Tomato sauce: Mrs L. Carr 1, Mrs Diamond 2, Mrs Barlow 3. Handkercliief; Mrs Diamond 1, Mrs L. Carr 2 and 3. Points prize for year: Mrs L. Carr. The retiring president, Mrs Haldane, thanked all members for cooperation during her three years in office. A vote of thanks was accorded her for the able way in which she had acted as presi dent. The new eommittee was then elected as follows : President, Mrs Bradley; vice-presidents, Mrs Bell and Mrs Beacken; secretary, Miss O. Gillespie; treasurer, Mrs Spackman; com mittee : Mesdames Beuchi, Barlow, L. Carr and Diamond. The hostesses foT the afternoon were Mesdames Bell and Rusliton.
