Low Scoring
SENIOR CRICKET Technical O.B. Only Side In Batiing Form R. BURNS MAKES 77 Low scoring prevailed in two of the three senior championship cricket matches played in the Hastings-Napier competitioxi on Saturday, when a new series of games was comimenced. The only side to nxake a respectable taily was the compdtition leaders, Napier Technifial Old Boys, who fiflished the afternoon's play with sfeven for 332. At Hastings, H.H.S.O.B. played Napier H.S.O.B., and were all out for 188; Napier replied with four for 102, leaving the game in a very interesting p03ition. Two games at Napier saw Hastings place themselves in a good position in a itow-scoring match with United, and Technical Old Boys set Rugby the task of making 332 for their first innings on Saturday. R. Burns (Technical) heads the batting list with 77, Lambert (Hastings) following with 66, Bees (Technical) 63, Geddis (Hastings) 50, Ellis (Technical) 51, Grainger (Technical) 48, Evans (Technical) 47, Tacon (Hastings H.S.O.B.) 54, Armitage (United) 50, and Phillips (Napier H.S.O.B.) 43. With the exception of the Technical scores, all these efforts were made at a time when the player's side was badly in need Of runs, In the Napier Junior B section, Scinde have virtually wott the championship for the season, by defeating their nearest rivals, Ahuriri, and establishing a clear lead of six championship points. It n^w seems likely that Scinde will wm the ehampion'ship for the second year in succession.
