Germany Asks For More STILL BELOW 1920 STANDARD (Eeeeived 6, 8.45 a.m.) BEEL3N, March 4. Official statistics show that 1,290,000 babies were born in Germany last year, which is 20,000 more than in 1935 and 330,000 more than in 1938. Nevertheless, authorities are disappointed wxth the results of the larger families eampaign. For 1936 the total xepresents only 19.1 per thousand of the population whereas the rate in 1920 was 25.9. A new criminal code provides imprisonment for co-respondents and adulterers and penalties for advocates of family limitation.
