Coming Visit to Hastings It was a colossal undertaking by J. C. Williamson Ltd. to import from, Europe to Australia the wliole of Colonel Basil's world-famous Monto Carlo Russian iSallet,^ which is to begin a season here at the Municipal Theatro on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and Wednesday afternoon, March 23 and 24. There will be a complete change of bailets on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was the sensational triumph it aehieved in the Commonwealth that inauced the directors of J. C. Williamson Ltd. to send the company to New Zealand, and as the cost to do so totals the enormous sum of £22,000 it will be 'realised that the prices which are being charged for admission are reasonably low.. I.ocal theatrogoers will witness the balleta on the same scale of completeness and magnificence, and performed By the same great artists as* appeared m them m London and on the Oontinent. There are over 100 travelling members in the Monte Carlo Ballet, including great dancing stars whose namea are familiar in London, New York, and on the Oontinent. These include Valentina Blinova, Leon Woinzikowsky, Helene Kirsova, Nina Raievska, Birger Bartholin, Irene Bondireva Valentine Baline, Velery Shaevsky, Tamara, Tchinarova, Serge Unger, Roland Guerard, Alexis Fr ank, Thomas Armour, Sonia Woizikowska, Dmitri Tovarofi. Jean Hover, Nina Golovina, Serge Vladiiniroff, Thadee Slavinaky, Nataalie Branitzka, Marian Winter, Vera Lipska, Valentin Froman, Nina You-chkevitch, Milos Riatic, Igo Youskeviteh and others. The ballets to be presented on the opening night are those in? which the company has aehieved its great auccesses in London and Australia — namely «'Les Sylphides" (romantic reverie with- muaic by Chopin), * i Scheherazade ' ' (powerful drama in one act with music by Rim-sky-Korsakov), and "Le Maxriage D' Aurora" (Aurora 's Wedding), Gala Ballet in one act with music by Tchaikowsky). For the second night and the matinee will be presented ' ' Carnival ' ' (Pantomime Ballet in one act with music by Sehumann). TLes Presages" (one of the most xemarkable ballets of the repertoire. Full of passion and surprise, music "by Tchaikowsky, and "La Boutique Fantasque" (the fantastic Toy Shop, with music by Rossini). It will be gathered that the Monte Carlo Russian Ballet presents not only a glorious enter tainment in which grace, youth, and beauty are expressed in the exquisite portrayal of the Dance but also providee a feast of music representative of the greatest composers, and performed by a grancT operatic orehestra of imported musicians under the directorship of Jascha Horenstein, l'ormer conduetor of the Berlin Symi phony Orchestra, who is well known throughout Europe. A special train has Been egaged to convey the Monte Carlo Russian Ballet from one town to another, and the attraction is without any doubt the greatest and most stupendous which has ever toured New Zealand under the banner of J.
