SCHOOL SWIMMING
Napier Secondary School Sports CHAMPIONSHIP T0 GAIR A reeord established by H. Baird in 1926 for the 66 2-3 yards junior championship was lowered by a second when C. B. Ferguson covered the distance^ in 45 1-5 seeonds at the annual swimming sports of the Napier Boys' High School yesterday afternoon. Although the weather was inclined to be wintry, the water ln the public batha was not unduly cold, and some exciting finishes were witnessed by a large attendance. The senior championahip was annexed by Gair, who swam splendidly during the afternoon and gained 30 points out of a po'ssible 30. Reddell, with 12 points, was runner-up. Ferguson won the junior championship with _ 16 points out of 30, the runner-up being Collett, with 12 points. The muchprized Bowen Cup, awarded for senior handicap events, was won by M. Anderson. The sports went off without a hitch, the masters receiving (splendid co-oper-ation from the boys. The school dosires to express its appreciation of the services rendercd as diving judge by Mrs L. C.
