Waipawa Rainfall. Only slightly over half an inch of rain fell in Waipawa during the month of February, spread over seven days. Valedictory. A presentation of a wallet of notes was made to Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Teirney, who are leaving Ongaonga after 30 years residence in the district. Cold Weather. Cold and wintry weather is being experienced in the Ongaonga district. Tokokino Sports. Owing to the Napier Greyhound Racing Club staging a meeting on Easier Saturday tho Tikokino Sports Club have been compelled to delete the greyhound racing section from their programme, and have decided to put on a dog trial event in its place — open shorthcad and yard. The prize money will be £6, £4, £2, and £1, and the nomination fee is 10/6. The event will commence at 8 a.m. sharp. Dannevirke Ewe Fair. Oompared with the first Dannevirke ewe fair this season — a fortnight ago — prices at the second fair to-day showed a decline. Good quality sheep were about 2/6 cheaper and the medium quality 2-tooths dropped from 3/- to 4/-. The entries totalled about 20,000 — approximately two-thirds the size of the previous fair — and the quality on the whole was medium. The best quality pens were hardly as good as the best at the first fair. Buyers were numerous, though those from outside districts seemed fewer. Prices during the imorning were much the same as those ruling at recent saies. The first i pen sold — 138 2-tooths on account of 1 Mrs. M. S. Johnston, "Waitahora — topped the morning market, the figure being 37/6.
