The annual meeting of the literary circle of the Hastings Towns women. 's Guild was held yesterday afternoon in the G.F.S. room, and Miss H. Ford was in the chair during the first parfc of the meeting. After the singing of the NationaY Anthem Miss Ford apologised for the absence of the secretary, Mrs Crawford, who had done such splendid work i'or the circle during the past year. 111heaith had compulled Mrs Crawlord to resign froxu tne position and it was decide.d to send ner a letter of appreciation with wishes for a npeeti y recevery. Apoiogies were also receiv'ed from Mesdames G. Stevens and E. Riley. - .. . Mrs Jackson acted as secretary for the afternoon, Members of the garden circle were reminded that next xuonday a visit wu'l be paid to Mr. G. Husheer's home at Havelock North. . The annual report was read by Miss H. Ford and Mrs A., F. Glenny proposed lts adoption. The balance-sheet also skowed a very eatisfactory financial pjsition. The annual report stated: — "The literary and play-reading circle oi the 'Hastings Townsvvomen's Guild field all meetings during 1936 in the. G.F.S. room and the membership was 36.
