Warning to Licensees

AUCEIiAND, Last Night. A warning that it was the responsibility of licensees to see that there wai no gaming on hotel premises was issued 6y Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at ' the quarterly meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committce after Stib-' I^spector Fox had atated that recenhy three bookmakers had been ckarged with betting on hotel preniises in Auckland. Mr. Wilson said that lately there had been a great many convictions for gaming in Auckland, which led one to suppose that there had been a return of marlced prosperity to the country. Howcver, men had been wasting their wages and in some instances sustenance men had been wasting their money ou gambling. Licensees should see that this did not take place on hotel prerfiscs.
