COMING OF AGE PARTY HELD OVER WEEK-END AT WAIPUKURAU
During the week-end many relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs john Wilson, Hatuma, to oiier their felicitations to Miss Evelyn (Bud) Wilson, on gaining her majority. During the afternoon the young people playeu tennis and the many guests were nospitabiy eutertained by Mr and Mrs Wilson at luneheon, afternoon tea and late supper. The festivities were continued on Monday evening, when Mr and Mrs Wilson ehtertained numerous young people at a coming-of-age dance for tneir daughter. The ifunction *was held in the Hatuma Hall, which had been attractively decorated for the occasion. The stage, set apart for bridge, looked very festive adorned with floating bowls of pink hydrangeas and zinnias. Popular dance music was supplied by Mrs Meta, Waipawa, supper extras being played by Miss f£. Hepburn. The guests were welcomed by Mr aua Mrs \viison, Mrs Wilson weanng a becoming modei gown of black ailk marocain, slimly fitting, the cowle.d front neckline and Grecian sleevos being faced with mediterranean blue silk. Tne guest of the evening looked vory youthful in her soft white silk treeuark crepe dance frock fashioned with a flared skirt an.d sash of pink velvec. The bodice was shirred from neck to waist and fastenpd with a pink spray and she wore a coatee of pink veivat having short puffe.d sleeves. Miss Jean Wilson, who assisted her mother, was wearing a slimly fashioned gown in black marosain, the skirt closely shirred below the waistline at the baok an.d f alling into a short train. The shirred bodice was finished with a scarlet spray and a white velvet coatee was worn. After a delectable buffot supper of savouries and other daintios. Mr Wright proposed the health of Miss Evelyn Wilson, wishing her much joy and happiness. The toast was drunk with musical honours and a handsomo pink and white birthday cake decorated with 21 candles and silver favours was cut by Miss Evelyn and handed round to the guests. Mr A. Wilson responded on behalf of his sister. A toast to Mr and Mrs John Wilson was proposed by Mr W. Matthews. Dancing was enjoyed till the early hours of the morning, when the vory jolly evening was brought to a close with the singing of ' ' Auld Lang Syne. ' ; Among those present were: Mr and Mrs H. T.
