(By Telegraph
±*AJLimnjjK»TUJN jn., Tnis Day. There are no fewer than eight separate provincial anniversaries celebrated in New Zealand each falling on a different date and with the development! of communications and transport, business firms experienee inconvenience when one place may be open and another not. The Wellington Chamber of j Commerce has moved in the d>irection: of having all those holidays held on the oue date and is seeking the views of' other chambers on the matter. The matter came before the Palmerston North Chamber of Comfnerce last! evening. Mr. M. H. Oram: If we hold them all on one day, the holiday will lose its significance. It might as well be done away with altogether. Mr. A. J. Graham (president): Yes, it is like a birthday. Mr. Oram pointed out that it was very nice to be on holiday in Palmerston North on Anniversary Day and yet be able to fly to Christchurch on business. He moved that no action be taken and the chamber agreed.
