FEW QUALITY CATTLE

The smallest yarding of store sheep since the New Year was offered at .Waipukurau to-day when omy 3000 sheeg were penned. Tho selling was at fcimes hard and very sticky, owing to ■upplies of feed becoming short duo to continued diy weather. Store wethers wero down fully 1/3 per head, which was due pfittly-to the redueed rate m jthe freezing sehedule for wetbSrs. Breeding ewes made rceent fair rates, with a few pens of good two-tootlis showing an improving tendency. A few pens oi aufcu-nu fattening lambs, well grown, brought to 18/> against 21/0 a month ago. In the fat pens an offering of extra prime heavy wethers, on account o»' Miss McRae, Hatuma, tooped the market at 28/3. Most of the ewes offeredin the fat pens lacked quality. to make freezing sehedule values. Store cattle were on offor in larger aumberB. A fine entry of cows, with splendidly grown calves at foot mad* £9 4/-. The steers offered were cliiefly emall grown and backward. Very few saies were effected, the reserves being well above • the buyers' npinions of value. Quality was lacking in the fat pens offered, being mainly of plain finished lots. Realisations were made as under: — FAT CATTLE On account of Mr D. H. Rickey, S elean bred, medium to heavy, prime finished cows in good order, made £8 6/-. Five dehorned medium Shorthorn cow» medium finished and varying a iot in qnality ranged from £6 6/- to £7 10/-. 3 L Five smaller framed clean-bred Aberdeen Angus cows, prime finished, brought £7 10/-. In the same pen. a single heavy prime quality Shorthorn brought £8 15/-. . Three pens of clean-bred medium grown young Aberdeen Angus bullocks, of medium quality, and of moderate finish were passed, according to size, £11 1/-,;£11 and £10 7/6 respeciively. STORE CATTLE. An entry of 45 small grown 30-months-old Aberdeen Angus " steers. fpmfl showing the Hereford in, their Bjake-up, in fair condition brought £8 «/-. An entry of 25 medium grown 18mths old Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cross heifers, in quite good order, ■old at £5 1/-. An entry of 52 hardy, well-grown 18-mths-old Aberdeen Angus steers, a few showing the Hereford, in good order, beang useful young cattle, passed at £7 5/-. A draft of 33 email grown 18-mths-bld Aberdeen Angus steers, being rather backward passed at £6 15/-. Nine rough-looking uneven, 18-mtbs Hereford steers, in poor order, were passed at £5 10/-. On. account of Mr D. H. Rickey, 15 well-framed Aberdeen Angus cows, ruuning with a Shorthorn bull, and with eplendidly grown sturdy weli-done calves at foot, were readily sought after to sell at £9 4/-. An entry of 19 fairiy grown Hereford steers rather uneven in qualitv did not attract, to pass at £7.

FAT SHEEP. , An entry of 22 well-grown nicelywoolled heavy Down, pfhne finished lambs, a good quality line, brought 27/9. An entry of 40 medium ewes, rather lightiy finished, brought 18/3. A fnrther pen of similar ewes, being «ged sorts, made 17/10. Five prime quality Down 2-tha, being quality mutton. made 22/9. Five medium quality wethers plainly finished, brought 25/-. Forty-five weil-iramed pnme-fiuished ewes, carrying a good slipe, brought 18/6. • An entry of smail-grown black-faced lambs in poor order was passed at 16/7. Offered on account of Toc H and the Plunket Society, 65 fat ewes, donated by various farmers tbrougbout tke cli.-.-trict, brought 19/-. On account of the same iunds, a BUxed pen of lambs and wethers made 23/- and 25/- respectivelv. A mixed pen, donated to the Waipawa Presbyterian Church, made similar prices. On account of Miss McCrae, Hatuma, 66 exceptionally prime, well-grown ■ «wes. in excellent order, made 28/3. STORE SHEEP. On account of Mr J. P. Lowe, Tangarewa, 201 4-th to 5-year ewes, all well mouthed, some being very light in condition and carrying a good slipe. met the market at 21/-. On account cf Mr Forbes McHardy, Aramoana, 243 nicely-grovvn oai'Jyehorn 2-th wethers in very i'orivard condition, being a most attractive line, were passed at 24/3. An entry of 245 smali to mediumgrown, sound, hardy black-faced lambs, in good order, a useful carryover proposition, brought 17/-. On account of Mr G. Pattison, The Brow, 119 fat and forward mediumgrown well-woolled white-faced lambs, whichi would finish , in good time on suitable feed, sold at 17/10. ' Down off the Whetakura country, 147 fairly-grown 2-th wethers, just dipped, being well-woolled and in good order, would make a good autumn fattening line, brought 22/2. On account of Mr Douglas McHardy, Onepoto Station, 106 nicely-grown, •arly-shorn 2-th wetWs, in very forward Order, wero passed at 23/3. On account of Mr C. R. Bidwell, Tikokino, 57 medium-grown 2-tli ewes. ■arly-shorn and in good order, brougbl ✓

An entry of 14 small to enedium grown black-faced woolly lambs, , rather uneven, the tops being in order for finishing, made 15/2. Seventy-two 4 and 5-year ewes, wellframed and in good condition, but mixed in the wool, were passed at 21/-. An offering of 83 aged ewes, a fattening line, mace JCr/3. On account of Mr. R. M. Bell, 66 mixed-age ewes, a 'small, hardy, breeding line, aiade 21/-. On account of Mr. C. R. Bidwell, 100 well-mouthed 5-yr. ewes, in light to medium order, realised 20/4. On account of Te Awa Station, 100 well-framed 5-yr. ewes, well mouthed and carried a good slipe, brought 21/4. On account of Mr. R.
