(Received 2, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, March 1. The Foreign Office has asked British Consular officiala at Bilbao and Bordeaux to endeavour to trace the Hon. Jessica Freeman-Mitford, aged 19, daughter of Lord Redesdale, and Mr Esmond Romilly, aged 18, nephew of Mr Winston Churchill. The officials have been notified that the eouple is under age and may be contemplating matrimony. Mr Romilly was recently fighting with the International Column in Madrid and is now believed to be making for Bilbao. Miss Freeman-Mitford was believed by her parents to be staying at Dieppe, but it was discovered that she had left there and was last heard of from Bayonne. A later message says that Lord Redesdale authorises a statement that news of the safety of his daughter has been received with great relief. The suggestion that she went to Spain to marry Mr. Romilly is scouted by the family. "They are cousins," says Lord Redesdale. "We are sure that they had no idea of marrying. She seeens to have gone to Spain in search of excitement." Lord Redesdale has written gently. reproaching her and saying that it is time she returned home,~ The Herald 's Bordeaux correspondent says that Lord Redesdale 's daughter is working with the Spanish Government Bureau at Bilbao.
