SWIMMING
Meeting of h.b. Centre The monthly meeting of the Hawke 's Bay Swimming. Caatre was presided over by Mr A. Rainbow. The delegates present were: Messrs E. D. Berry, L. Fisher, D. Grahani, A. Christie, R. Prehhle, C. Atkinson, W. T. Harvey (assistant isecretary) and R. Miles (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs P. Algie and B. Doggett. The report on the Hawke 's Bay provincial' championship recently held was read and received with favourable comment. Congratulations were extended to all record holders. The schedule of dives for 1938 is to be drawn up by a sub-committee and plaeed before the centre. The Henry Williams championship cup carnival, between the Napier club and Havelock North, was decided to be held on Wednesday, March 10, tbo event to take place at the Havelock North baths. After the swimming a presentation of the cup and prizes will be made at a social function to marls the close of the 2937 swimming sea&on. It was decided to advise the secretary of the New Zealand Swimming Couneil that the Hawke 's Bay centre Was strongly in favour of a meeting of all delegates to be held in Wellington at the earliest possible date, it being the opinion of the meeting that Vuch a conference was very neceOsary in the interest of swimming. Efforts are to be made for the visif to this district of overseas tewimmers, preferably competitors from the Empire Games, which are to be held in Australia next year.
