A DRY MONTH

Only .lins. of Rain For February TWO FROSTS RECORDED A marked difference in the rainfall for February of this year and 1936 is the principal feature of the monthly weather report for Hastings prepared by the Government observer, Mr H. Nelson Fowler. For 1936 the total fall was 11.32 ins on 10 days, while for this year the fall was only .11 ins on five days. It will be recalled that during February of last year severe flooding was experienced as a result of storm a and heavy rains. Rain fell last month on five dayB as follows: — ^February 1st., .04; 8th .03; 14th. .02; 15th, .01; 24th, .01. Total, •llins. The highest maximum temperature in the screen was 83.6 degrees, the mean maximum being 73.4 degfees. The lowest minimum temperature in the screen was 36.4 degrees, and the mean minimum 49.4 degrees. The lowest grass temperature was 28.0, and the mean grass temperature 42.4. Two frosts, each of two degrees, were recorded. The range of temperature was 24.4 degrees, and the mean temperature r61.4, as compared with 64.4 for the sae period in 1936. The prevailing winds for the month were east-north-east ojj six days, south-south-east on 12 days, and west-south-west on 10 riaya.
