CLIVE SPORTS GROUND
Application to Rivers BoarS LEASE OF 130 ACRES The question of converting the waste land at the south side of the Ngaruroro river into a sports ground and golf links was hefore the Hawke's Bay Rivers Board to-day. On behalf of the Clive Sports Ground Ltd., Mr J. A. Miller wrote stating that it was desired to obtaija from the board the 130 acres now leased by the board to one of its tenants, Mrs Nichols. The company wished to arrange a long lease of this area and would be prepared to discuus the matter with the board. Mr L. E. Harris said that it was a matter .to which he thought the board could give serious consideration. "Do you know what financial backiaig the company has got?" asked the chairman, Mr C. Lassen. "It has a little, but it hasn't got any of mine," replied Mr Harris amid laughter. "W]e really don't know what the proposals are. "VYe have nothing before U8," said Mr W. G. Jarvis. Mr Harris: I think we should take the matter up. .The chairman: I would suggest that the engineer, Mr G. Rockfort, report to the board. It was finally decided that the chairman, Mr Harris and the engineer should meet the representatives of the company and report to the board.
