A passenger on the Llandovery Castle, which struck a mine ofl the Spanish coast and limped, daniaged, into Port Vendres, says: "Wa struck s- floating mine at 4.45 p.pm. a* the ship wa*> passing Oape Cerbere, ten iniles from the shore. Most of us were having tea when there was a sudden roai and a high column of water rose up to the left side of the bows. Water immediately began to pour in through a great hole in the ship's side. "The bows sank until the ship tilted. The pumps were immediately put into action and the water tight doors closed, but there was no .panie and nobody was injured. The captain, after sending an S.O.S. ■ changed the course for Port Vendres, whiler the ship's officers invited the passengers to the ° ballroora, where they danced and sang as if nothing was amiss. - When the vessel Was hov© to outside Port Vendres, the bows had sunk 30ft. in the water but the sea was cairn, end there is no intention at present of disembarking the passengers, who were still dancing on the brilljantlyjit ship at midnight. The Daily Mail says that the captain has wirelessed for a powerful tug to tow the ship to Marseilles.
