Cook, McLean street, Havelock North, was the hostess at a gift afternoon given in honour of hor niece, Miss Muriel Meads, ..who is to» ba married shortly to Mr Kenneth Bxu:nettg The drawing-room, where the guests were entertained, was beautifully decorated with astere and carnations. The hostess had arranged a jolly programme and the following items interspersed with games were given: Musical items, Mrs H. Garland; songs, Miss Johnson; recitations, Mrs Guthrie; tap daneing, Shirley Meads. ; After a delicious afternoon tea, the bride-to-be, assisted by her sister, Miss Edna Meads, opened her many parcels, which included a number of beautiful giftSi Among those present were: Mrs Alderman (grandmother of the guest-of-honour), Mra and Miss Ingram, Mrs and Miss Garland, Mrs and Miss Johnson, Mrs and Miss C.
