Mr Mrs Brown, Petone were the guests of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs G. Harding, Makutuku, during the week-end. Mr A Neilson, head tfeacher, and Miss Ga-ae, assistant, have resumes duty at the Makotuku school. Mr and Mrs R. Morgan, Makotuku, have returned from their annual vacation, Miss Higginsfl assistant mistress of the Ormondville School, returned on Sunday to get ready for the reopening of the school next week. Mrss E. McConnon, Wanganui has been appointed to the position on the stalf of the primary ^department of the Waipawa High School rendered vacant by the resigiiation of Miss I. Boxall Mr A. L. Mackay, Ganterbury, will take tover the position of assistant master at the -Waipawa High School in succession to Mr W. V. Hobin, who has been transferred to Palmerston North.

Miss Nola Redward, Tii-atu, is visiting* friends in Otane. Mrs A. F. Rawston and the Misses Joy and June Rawston, Tiratu, bave gone to Wanganui. Mrs D. Murphy, Makotuku, has returned home from a -holiday with her daughter, Mrs Daly, Masterton. Mrs P. W. Andersen and' Miss Eunice Andersen, Makotuku, are visiting Masterton as the guests of Mrs P. Daly. Miss Smith, who spent the school vacatibn in Makotuku as tjie guest of Mr and Mrs E. Sands, has returned to Auckland. Mr and Mrs E. Bmith and family have returned to Makotuku from a motoring trip in the Auckland district. Mvss M. Howell, wLo was reeentlv appointed typiste to the Wairoa Borough Council, has resigned her position to take up service with the Post an.d Telegraph Department.

Dr. Turbott, of Hamilton, with Dr. Lambie, reached Wairoa on Monday night, and next day macle an inspection of the Maori dwellings in the district. Including the members of the Wairoa R.S.A., Messrs Compton and Gammell have been showered with congratulations at their inclusion in the Coronation contingent, and at a meeting of the executive the former was presented with a cheque. The Wairoa Borough Council, at its meeting on Tuesday night, directed that a lefter be sent to Mr P. A. Milne, Health Inspector, paying a high tribute to him for his work and congratulating bim o*i his promotion to New Plymouth. Mr S. V. Bargh, formerly of Ormondville and Dannevirke, has been appointed postmaster at Petone, Wellington. Mr Bargh joined the service at Dannevirke in 1904 where he remained for about eighifc years before going to Wellington. He was stationed there for two and a-half years, returned to Dannevirke for two years, and from there went to Hawera for seven and a-half years. He was postmaster at Ormondville for six and ahalf years and after that went to Palmerston South as postmaster, where he had been since 1932 until his present transfer to Petone.
