Stay-In Mine Strikers in Hungary SUPPORTERS SHOT DOWN

(Eeceived 25, 11.45 a.m.) BUDAPEST, Peb. 24. Gendarmes killed two and woundea three when they fired a volley into a group of miners and women demonstrating in support of a stay-in mine stiike at FunfMrchen. Officiala deelare that the gendarmes fired in self-protec^ion when attacked by miners' wives, who said they had no cnoney or food. Strikers numbering 400 remain below, where they ignore the underground telephone. It is thought that the pumps are out of action and the wprldngs slowly flooding. There is also risk of fire-damp explosion. The miners' lamps are exhausted and the pit ponies are not being fed.
