More Sit-Down Strikes A message from Santa Monica, California, states that a sit-dqwn strike pf 500 out pf 5600 employees, halted operatiohs at the Douglas aircraft plant. The strikers demand increases ranging from 15 to 25 cents an hour. The company 's unfulfllled orders include a 10,000,000-dollar contract for Government planes. At Groton, Conneoticut, a sit-down strike was called in the shipyards of the Electric Boat Company, which is building six subxaarines for tbe navy. Maternal Researcb The Minister of Health for New South Wales, the Hou. H. P. Fitzsimons, has announced that the £32,000 raised on behalf of the King George memorial fund, will be invested by the Government and the revenue from it used for research into maternal problems. Australian Trade It is officially announced that Australia 's favourable overseas trade balance for the calendar year 1936, was £24,540,476, this represents an improvement of £3,031,635.
