Dannevirke Boy Dives on to Concrete

DANNEVIRKE, Last Nigkt. Striking the concrete side of the Coronation swimming baths as he dived from a high board about 3.30 yesterday aftemOon, Trevor Rice, the 10-year-old son of Mr and Mrs T. Rice, Swinburn street (formerly of Te Rehunga), sank to the bottom. The caretaker, Mr W. Gough, saw the accident and dived in at once, bringing the boy to the surface in quick timo. He wafc, however, in a semi-conscious state and was removed to the public hospital by car, where it was found 'that he had suffered injuries to the head and the lower part of the spine as well as considerable tehock. His condition is improving. It is understood that the boy £lipped when sprihging from the board.
