Framed Letter Presented to Mr F. J. Tonkin ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY WORK In recognition of the services xendered by Mr F. J. Tonkin to the Hastings Orchestral Society, «a framed letter waS presented to him at the Soteiety's annual meOting in the Borough Council Chambers last. evening. The text of the letter, which was presented to Mr Tonkin by Mr Gordon Boach, on behalf of members of the society, was as follows: "W^e, the undersigned committee members of the Hastings Orchestral Society, wish to take the opportunity through this letter of Tecording our appreciation of the splendid work accomplished by Mr F. J. Tonkin as our chairman. During his term of office and at every stage of his connection with the orchestra, he has done his utmost to further the interests of the society, and has at all times been most generons of his personal service, frequently placing his car at the disposal of the committee. We think this an opportune time to assure him of our deep gratitude and sincere appreciation of all he has done for the Orchestral Society and we cordially wish Mrs Tonkin and himself the best of health and prosperity." * The letter bore the signatures of Mr G. H. Eoach (president), Madame Aurelia E. Lelievre, Mrs Ruby E Shattky, Mrs Florence Bark, Messrs Geo. E. Tong, G, Marsicano, T. G. Kitchen, F. C. Wilkinson, C. B. Ingram (hon. treasurer), and E. L. Eyan (hon, secretary). In making the presentation, Mr Eoach spoke briefly of Mr Tonkin 's services and Mr Tonkin later replied.
