OKAWA WINS AGAIN
H.B. Rifle Association Shield SHOOT AT WAIPUKURAU During the week-end the anawai competition for the Hawke 's Bay "Rifle Association. Shield was held on the Mt. .Vernon xange, Waipukurau. Okawa A were again the winners of the trophy with a grand total of 486. five points ahead of Napier A. Teams were present from every club in the province. The number of riflemen taking part was 65 (13 teams), Vrinch constituted a record for the •hoot. The conditions at 300 and 500 yards were all that could be desired. At 600 yards a bright light and a xunning m&cLo g[ood cards vory rare. Neverthe'eiis. on jthe day's shooting 13 possibles . were registered. They were:— 300 yards: J. Hastie, J. Sim/F. Tinney, L. Proffitt. 500 yards: 11. Symons, W. J. Burton, H. Brehaut, x1. B. Field, G. 8. Campbell, I. van Asch, W. Green, H. Russell. 600 yards: 1». Proffitt. The highest individual scores were returned by L. Proffitt and B. Symons, each with 101 off the rifle. At 500 yards a great performance was achieved by the Craggy range team, which registered 173 out of 175. Re•ults: — ■
