If tkeir soeiety was indeed very far off from the Eingdom of God and vefy far off oven from being a decent kingdom of man, ke said, tke root cause was to be found not in external circumstances, but in tke minds and kearts of men. They skpuld kave tkeir fate well set in the way of peace, if tke majofity of men — nay, tke majority of Ckristians--earried out in tkeir minds a picture of a soeiety, not witk Ghrist as an outeast in a stable, or a crucified cfiminal, but oue acknowledged as ■ Lord and leader.
