CHURCH SERVICES
At St. Matthew's Church, Hastings, to-morrow, there will be celebrations of the Holy Communion at 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Matins and sermon will be at 11 a.m., Holy Baptisms at 3 p.m., and evensong and sermon at 7 p.m. Evening tservices will be conducted at St. James's Hall, Duke street, and at St. Barnabas ' Hall, Selwood road. All Bible Classes will meet at the usual hours. Sunday Schools re-assemble on February 28. "Is it possible to-day to accept the Genesis story of Oreation?" That question is the subject of the address to be given by Rev. D. J. A. Shaw in St. Andrew 's Church to-morrow evening. This service will be relayed to St. John's Hall, Mahora, and a opecial.invitation to attend is extended to all who are doubtful. We believe that God would have every man think for himself. The services in the Hastings Methodist Church on Sunday will be conducted by Mr D. Neilson, who recently returned to New Zealand after some vears of missionary iservice in India. The morning subject will be, "A Drama iii a Persian Palace," and the evening "Christ on the Moslem Road." Mr Neilson is' known as a forceful and interesting speaker and all who attend will be helped by his me'ssage. The anthems are: Morning, "O That I Knew"; evening, "What; of the Night?" Further inspirational services in connection with the month of prayer and preparation (February) will be held tomorrow in the Baptist Church, when the Rev, C. B. Boggis will preach morning and evening. Tho morning subject is "The Unprofitable made Profitable," while the topic for the evening service is entitled "The Gospel according to Jesuls. " The Communion will be celebrated at the close of the evening gathering. The Sunday School recommences aetivity in "the aiternoon at 2.30. A very hearty invita-lon is extended to everyone to attend all meetings. The subject of the address in the United Hall on Sunday night will be, "Tho Destiny of the British Empire as revealed in Biblo prophecy." Mrs Brigadier Smith, who is viisiting Hastings from "Wellington, will givo a Holiness address in the morning service in the Salvatnm Army Hall to-morrow. Major Marshall will speak in the evening meeting, and the subject of her address will be, "After the Banquet." Those who believe the Biblo to be tlic inspired Word of God have been helped in Iheir search'for a spiritual interpretation of Scriplure during the special "Back to the Bible" services conducted by Pastor A. L. Grceuway, in Ihe Apostolic Church, Iving street S., Hastings, throughout last week. Dispensational and practical aspcets of tho Revelation of God to the World and tho Church have been faithfully dealt with and the blessing of the Lord has been evident in the meetings, many testifying to the spiritual illuminatiou received. The services continue over the week-end, to-night being a special message to Christians of every persuasion, Sunday morning a breaking of bread service and Sunday evening a Gospel service, when the Gospei wilJ preached with that Evangelieal simplicity and Holy Ghost, power which characterises the Apostolic Church Pastor Greenway has just returned from a period of ministry among the Maoris of Te Puke and distriet, and on Tuesday Jast gavo a very interesting account of lives transformcd tho grace of God during his activities and Gospel tservices conducted among the Native people. With a
wide experience of Bible-teaching and Gospel campaigris, Pastor Greenway has a message for the times. Visit the services at the Apostolic Church, King street, over the week-end. Everyone invited. Mr R. G. Nairn, the Irish Evangelist, will give a Gospel address on "A Mighty Saviour" at Nelson Street Hall on Sunday at 7 p.m. His subjects during the coming week will be advertised later. The services in the Havelock North Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the minister, the Rev. R. Waugh, morning and evening in Havelock and afternoon. at MaraetotaTa.
