FEILDING EWE FAIR

Yarding of Nearly 50,000 Yesterday EASING IN VALUES ' With a yarding of closa on fi),OUO] iewei the Feilding ewe fair yesterdayj iattracted widespread interest and there| iwas an extraordinarily large influx of 1 i visitors to the town for the event. The 'buge offering which occupied all the yard space was made up of sheep of varying quality and condition ranging from inferior and broken mouth lots to . really excellent 2-ths which topped the 1 market at £3 0s ld for a line of 49 on account of the well-known Kiwitea breeder, Mr J. H. Hocking. These sheep have consistently topped the Feilding market and yesterday 's price was not far removed from the value of well over i £3 of the boom days. The Oale opened with two sets of , auctioneers engaged on both the 2-ths ; and the older sheep, and while the bid'ding for the young stock was fully up i to expectationg where quality was concerned, that for the aged breeding ewe ! ,was desultry • and dragged very much. 1 |Good quality sheep attracted attention I ibut the weaker linee failed to appeal I ,and while vendore were inclined to hold j ,to their reserves buyers were not to be | drawn. Later in the sale, values for ! ,aged sheep hardened up a bit, but only in the ease of sound sheep. The best ;price for 4-year ewes at a late hour yesi terday was 34s with round about 31s iov-5-year lots. The following is a selestion of the^ quotations: — j ! 2-tooth Ewes. j i 40 on account J. D.
