Board oi bovernors Meets The monthly meeting of the Hastings High School Board was held last night, the ehairman, Mr E. J. W. Hallett. presiding over Mrs T. A. Hill, and Messrs H. de Denne, F. C. RusbMunro and A. D. Ross. The principal, Mr W. A. G. Penlington and the secretary, Mr E. A. Murley, were also present. Accounts totalling £1545 18/3 were passed for payment. A financial staternent on the year's working was submitted by the secrctary and approved. The Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, wrote advising that the annual increments payabie to teachers ou February L would be available on the due date. An amount oi £90 19/3, representing travelling allowances for pupils for the past term, vvas received from the Education Department. The Education Department wrotc approving the appointrnent of Misses Thorpe uud JMiUer, Sister Norman, and Mr A. S Warwif-li as parl-time teachers. •The Ijklucatioij Lfoard vvrole asking tor information ou the work tarrjed out and the eost of purchase of the Assembly Hall, und mquiring particulars of what further work was conteruplated iu this couueetion The becretary and the principal were authorised to draw up,a complete staternent of the work to be done, the estimated cost of which was £500. A lettei was received iroin the Gisborne High School Board diawing attention to the stutements made by tho chairnian of the Gisborne board in opposing unificatiou of control of high schools. It wai decided to support tho statements The Parliamentary Recess Commitie's report on education reorganisation , New Zealand was considered, and ;e secretary was instructed to subiuit the board'p views on the various p.roposaJe made.
