NARROW ESCAPE
Family's Dash From Burning House K0R0KIP0 FIRE Mr and Mrs -T. Williams, Korokipo road, Taradale, and their two children had a narrow escape from being burned when their house caught .fire at 11 o'clock on Wednesday. night and was speedily burned to the ground. Mr Williams was awhkened by the cries of one of his two children, and had time only to rouse his wife and to cafry out the children before the flames gained in strength. So fierce was the blaze that the house was burned to the ground in an hour hour and a-half. The house was full of suffocating smoke when Mr Williams awakened, and the occupants were forced to evacuate their rooms so hurriedly that they escaped clad in their night attire alone. There was no hope of saving the building. and the efforts of neighbours were directed towards keeping the flames from sheds near the house. The owner of the building was Mrs C. M. Clark, "The Rise," Waiohiki. It was insured for £275, but .the contents were covered for a very small amount only.
