(Received 19, 12.10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 18. William John Cody, aged 24, a labourer, an.d Rnpert Davies, aged 28, a stofeman, were found "guilty of the murder of James Edward Scriver on January 31, 1936, and both were sentenced to death. Scriver, a Titles Office messenger, was fatally shot while acting as escori to a clerk carrying a cash bag contain* ing £1758. Women screamed and men muftered disapproval when the foreman announced the verdict. Bqth the convicted men profested their innocence and said they had not had a fair trial. The judge said that every point in their favour had been carefully placed before the jury.
