Man Who Couldn't Drown COAXED OUT OF SEA

AUCKLAND, Eeb. 17. "I couldn't drown; I floated like a cork." That is what an elderly man said when coaxed out of the sea this morning by a passing cyclist. The man was later charged at the \ Police Court with attempted suieide. Sub-Inspector Eox said that the cyclist saw a man's head bobbing up and down in the water. He inquired of the man what he was doing. ' T am trying to drown myself," was the reply. The man was persuaded to come ashore. Ho explained that he was feeling depressed and wanted to end it all. The Magistrate remanded the accused for a week under supetvision. Counsel for the man said a good holiday was all he needed to reeover from overwork.
