Mrs Lowry told of her esperiences in cpnnection with the International Red Cross, and ptregaed the impprtance pf the worfe Qf the society in peace and in war, "It'a a very good insuraneo against earthquakes, fire, fiood and wari" eaid Mrs Lowry, in nrgiug that much great er puhlie snpport should be forthcoming for the society in New Zealand, "it isn't so mnch money as interest that "we want, ' ' the speake? conclu'ded. Sister Stringer gave an account ot the work of the Junior Red Gross movement througliont the world. Xn many couutries the children automati, cally became meiubers of the Junior Red (Ross, and the prinoiplss pf social service were thus inculcated. In New Zealand the Junior Red Gross movo ment was only now being given the opportunity pf working . in with the Health ahd Education Departments, and was recognised as an adjunct to these departments. The aim was to keep the children well and encourage world friendghip. Sister Stringer appealed for the suppprt of the women and fchv women 's organisations." They asked ny financial aid from the children but only their ihterest- ' Dr, H. M, Wilson, in proposing a vote of thanks to Mrs Lowry and Sister Stringer, expreescd his pleasure at Mrs Lowry 's appointment, He was quite snre that Mrs Lowry 's pergonality would be an asset to' tho society, The Red Cross Society could dq mnch in stimnlating research int,o .nutrition, in determining the reaspns for the bad teeth and deiiciencies in the children of New Zealand. .
