SOCIAL EVENING FOR WAIROA PLUNKET NURSE

Miss Malcolm, Plunket Nurse for the Wairoa district, was tendered a dinner and social evening at the nurses ' home. The building was decorated for the occasion with autumn-coloured dahlias and tiger lilies. Miss Malcolm was preseuted with a beautiful bouquet by Miss E. S. Harvey, hospital matron and president of the Wairoa Registered Nurses' Association. The usual business meeting was held first, and competitions f ollowed, the first winner being Miss Liepst, matron of Cook Hospital. The second was won by Miss Welby. Several songs were rendered by Miss P. Turnbull, Mrs. Hislpp acting as accompanist. Among those present were Miss Malcolm, Miss E. S.. Harvey, Mrs. Simpson and Miss Welby (the hostesses for the evening), Miss G. Liepst, Mesdamea Sproul, Peez, Hislop, Bryant, and the Misses H. Lindsay, P. Turnbull and K. Whitmore. After supper a presentation of an etching was made to the guest of honour, and Mrs. Simpson ' presented a bouquet to Miss Harvey. The gathering closed with many good wishes for Miss Malcolm 's future in her new sphere in Wellington.
