Wairoa A. & P. Show Winners

Society, which met a few days ago, has now finalised its report, and has issued to the Press the following list of cups and trophies won at the recent Al and P. Show, a remarkable fact being that an unusually largo number were won outright, calling fot roplacement by generous donors. Tlie list is:— - I Gibson cup, hunters' competition, G. Melntyre's Brutua. Man rnrown from Cycle. \Vhen the front torks of a bicycle he was riding along Ruataniwha street yesterday afternoon broke, a man, whose.name is not known, was thrown j heavily on his face on the asphalt ! roadway. He escaped serious injury, hpwever, and suffered only minor abrasions. The deatli has occurred of Mr Spender Clay, Conservative inember of Parliament for Tonbridge, Kent. A byelection beeomes necessary. Mr Spender Clay had a very large majority over his Labour and Liberal opponents.
