30,000 store sheep Fat Sheep Values Show Little Change " \ WAIPUKURAU SALE Sound, steady selling prevailed for all sections of live-stock at Waipukurau to-day, when there was a yarding of 30,000 -store sheep. In this section were included several lines of five and six-year ewes, many of which were poorly mouthed but in their condition would fatten readily. Shorn white-faced wether lambs in fairly forward order brought to 21/6. Small-grown lines, inclined to be backward were slow of sale, but made prices fully up to their values. Fat sheep sold at rates showing little change, with best wetherg bringing to 27/7, prime beavy lambs to 29/3 and the ewes, which were only of medium quality, brought to 20/4. In the small cattle offering well-grown, 30mths Aberdeen-Angus steers brought £10 10/-. Well done station-bred cows, with calves at foot, brought £9 10/-. Realisations were as under:— ^ STOEE SHEEP In off hilly country at Porangahau, 339 5-yr ewes, quite fair mouths, in good stone order, but harsh in the wool, brought to 25/-. An entry of 259 wooily mediumgrown Bomney cross wether lambs, in medium order, with the tops carrying quite a lot of condition, were .passed at 19/-. On account of-peacock Bros., Manga taratara, ■ 219 early shorn, well-grown, f. and f. wethers, in good order, rbalised'25/4. * ' In from the; Springhill district, 185 5 and 6-yr 1 ewes,.' poorly mouthed but in good store order, would fatten readily, made 20/6. In from Tikokino, 200 small- to medium , grown Down cross lambs, in good store condition, a nseful rape line, • brought 18/9 , Also in from. thq Springhall district 169 late shorn 5 and 6-year ewes, poorly mouthed in , a large percentage of caseS,- but in good store order for fattening, brought 19/1. ■ A dr af t of • 205) 6-yr ewes, bred in the Mangarorapa : district, poor mouths, in average store order, brought 18/7. grown Bomney cross wether lambs, a useful carry-over proposition, in hardv order, brought 17/7. From IHe same source, 587- smaller grown, similar bred shorn wether lambs were passed at 14/6. ' On account Estate O. Y. Lethbridgo, 319 early shorn, well grown Komney cross wether lambs in f. and f. condition, a well done line, realised in good competition 21/6. An entry of 219 small to mediuen grown .black face lambs, nseful to flTiiaR off on rape, brought 17/9. An entry of 50 exceptionaly well grown, early shorn T. and f. wethers, in splendid order, brought 26/10. A further entry of 188 medium grown, early shorn wethers, lacking tho linish of the previous Tine, realised 25/-. On account Estate M. C. Lambert, 77 5-yr. well-framed, roomy ewes, jn quite fair order, made good buying at'20/-. On account Mr. W. Eickey, 170 medium grown black face lambs, carrying a lot of condition, a qnick finishing line, brought 20/7. On account Estate M. C. Lambert, Porangahau, 105 early shorn, wellgrown 2-th. ewes, in good condition, made good buying at 37/-. On account of -Mr. J. G. Mitchsko, Argyll, 158 well-grown, 'woolly white face ewe lambs, in f. and f. condition, being particularly" well done, wero passed at ,29/-. On account of Stoddart Bros., Wanstead, 145 4-th. wethers, well grown, early shorn, in splendid order, realised 25/6.
v CATTLE On account of Mr B. Gray, Buataniwha, 7 "medium-framed Aberdeen Angus — Hereford crossbred bulloeks, showing prime finish, being goocf summer-weight ox beef, brought £11 12/-. • On account of the same vendor, 7 horned Hereford and Hereford-cross medium similarly-finished young bulloeks brought £ll 7/6. From the same source, three further medium-framed prime-finished A.berdeen Angus-cross bulloeks, of useful weight, made £11 30/-. A single heayy prime young Aberdeen Angus cow brought £9 5/-. A further entry of Mr Gray's, 7 three-year-old Aberdeen Angus bulloeks, medium finisl^ed, a good chilling entry, brought £10 18/-. On behalf of the same vendor, four sniall to medium:grown horned Hereford , young bulloeks, quite well finished, brought £10/6/6. An entry o£ i3 clean-bred 30-month3-old Aberdeen Angus steers, forward store conditioned, having been well done. brought £10 10/-. Twelve well-framed Aberdeen AnguscrOss cows, in very good order, with 12 fairly well grown calves at foot, made £9 10/-. FAT SHEEP Fifteen medium to heavy ewes, quite well finished and carrying a fair slipe, brought 18/10. Two heavy prime-quality woolly Romnew-cross, well-grown lambs made 29/3. ; Two heavy prjnie-quality Down-cross lambs, in splendid order. sold «t 28/3.
Six prime msAium to heavy earlyshorn wethers Uftde 27/-. Fifteen medium-framed ewes, rather plainly finished, brought 18/-. Seven medium ewes, late shorn but quite well finished, brought 18/9. An entry of 29 heavier prime-quality ewes, carrying a good slipe, broucht 20/4. • ' b An entry of 27 maiden ewes, prime finish, useful weights, early shorn, biought 20/7. An entry of 12 killable wethers, 8 medium line, brought 24/10. A further pen " in similar order, but earlier shorn, brought 25/6. A bid of 25/7 -secured 13 mediumgrown* prime Down-cross lambs in good order. An entry of 20 heavy early-shorn prime wethers, a qyality entry, brought I 27/7, : 1
