Wage Agreement Reached With Employers WEEK 0F m HOURS

WELLINGTON, Last Night. A complete agreement was reached in. the Conciliation Council to-day in the New Zealand General Insurance Industrial Union of Workers' dispute, and the Arbitration Court is to be asked to make the agreement into an award. The agreement is to apply to all members of indoor clerical staff and inspectors who are in receipt of £450 per annum or less. Industrial superintendents are to be paid not less than £5 a week. The commencing salary for males is £29 per annum for the first six months, and for every succeeding six months the rate is as follows : £36, £41 4/-, £46 8/-, £51 12/-, £56 16/-. The salary in the fourth year is to be £130, and in every succeeding year it is to be as follows: £155, £180, £210, £230, £2i>5, £280, £295, £310, £325. Every woAer of 21 years or upwarda is to receive not less than £3 16/- a week. The commencing salary for femalea is £29 per annum, and for every succeeding six months it i6 to be as follows : £36, £41 4/-, £46 8/-, £51 12/-, £56 16/-. Tfie fourth-year salary is £130, fifth year £145, and sixth year £160. Females 21 yearg or older are to receive not les than £1 16/- a week. The commencing salary for female clerks in life office industrial departments is to be £23 8/- per anaura, and for every succeeding six months it is to be as follows : £28 12/-, £33 16/-, £39, £44 4/-, £49 8/-. The fourth year salary is £115, fifth year £125 and sixth year £135. Workers 21 years or older are to receive not les than £1 16/-. A working week of 37$ hours is provided for, to be worked between Monday and Friday, except that in special cases an employee may be required to work 40 hours. Work in excess of 40 hours is to be paid for as overtime. Sick leave is provided for, as well as annual holidays, and the preference clause is included.
