PLANNED IMMIGRATION
Support From Hastings Chamber Support for the planned scheme of immigration was forthcoming at last night' s meeting of the Hastinge Chamber oi Commerce when a letter wai received from the Associated Chambers of Commerce stating that an aaaisted migration scheme was favoured by the executive of the Associated Chambers. The Hastings chamber decided to support the Associated Chambere and also expressed its support of the eiforts being made in this direction bj the Hon. W. E. Barnard. "It is evident that Mr Bamard'e views are in line with those of the Associated Chambers," commented Mr W. E. Bate, who presided. "Mr Barnard is on© of the best men in the country to take up this movement at tbe present time. We should wish him success. Mr Barnard is fopus&ing - attention on the matter before the Imperial Conference, when the eubject oi migration will probably be one of the subjeets discussed. It is well, therefore, that New Zealand's opinion should be considered and focussed in good time."-
