(By Telegraph
AUCKLAND, Last Night. When the Awatea berthed this afternoon there stepped ashore seven women whose life stories would resemble thossi of the hermits of earlier days. They were Sisters ' of the Carmelite Order, and they will establish in Auckland for the first time a carmel of prayer, contemplation and" good works. The only other carmel in New Zealand was established at Christchurch three years ago. The Sisters, who wear brown clotb habits, white cloaks and rope sandals, devote themselves to prayer for the world aronnd them. Their own life is one of poverty an.d aelf-denial. Their order is the oldest in the Catholic Church. The Sisters were rnet by Bishop Liston. ~ 'i ' f
