Mr C. G. E. Harker, Waipawa, is on a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs J. Comnions, of Napier, are visiting Rotorua. Mr E. ^Pepperell, who has been visiting New Plymouth, lias re turned to Waipawa. Mr H. G. Do.wn, traneferred from Christchurch, has taken up his duties as accountant jn the Chier Post Ofhce Napier. Mrs J J. Faulkner, with Miss Josie i/auikner, left by Mondays morning' s express for Masterton fo stay for a vveeis with Mrs O. Vallance. Mr E. Wall left Hastings yesterday morning for Masterton, wiiere he wil act as judge in the pig section at the vv'aii'arapa xJ. and A. Society ;s ShQw. Mr Ro bert Fraser has retufned to Whakatane from a four weeks' fishing trip to Waikaremoana and Wairaumoana. He was the guest of Mr and ivirs T, Powdrell, of Wairoa. Mr R. H. D, Sedsman, assistant-agri-cultural editor of the Adelaide Adver liser and Chronicle, is a member of the Australian primary producers' party ■which arrived in Napier last night.
Mr P. Mann, the newly -ap pointed Hastings borough traffic inspector, from St. Kiida, Dunedin, reported for duty this morning. His wife and family accompanied him to Hastings. Mr H. V. Mountier, telegraph > engineer at Napier, who has been transierred to Wellington, leaves Napier on Wednesday week. His successor at Napier will be Mr E- Waipole, Gisborne The board of direetors of the Bydney Press Club has conferred liie menibership on eight foundation members) among whom was Mr E. Schwabe, at one tiine on the stalf of the Hawke's Day Herald, Napier. Mr P. Martin-Smith, M.A., LL.H., Dip. Ed., Palmerston North, has been appointed tutor-orgauiser for the Workers ' Educational Association in the Wellington and Hawke's Bay districts. He will shortly be making a preliminary tour of the area, visiting the various W.E.A. groups. Mr and Mrs J. W. MacLachlan and daughter left Hastings this morning eu route to the Old Country. Mr and Mrs MacLachlan spent 25 years in New Zealand, fche greater part in Hawke's Bay. There was a big crowd at the Hastings Railway Station this morning to bid them farewell and every pvosperity in the future. Dr. A. G. Clarke, who acted as medical superintendent of the Napier Hospital during the absence on siek leave of the medical superintendent, Dr. J. J. Foley, is to receive a letfcer of appreciation from the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board thanking him for the capable manner in which he carried out his duties and. for the assistance he gave to the board. Mr. M. G. C. McCaul, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, and Mr A. O. Heaney, secretary, are at present visiting Napier. To-day they were entertained at a luncheon by the Napier Chamber of Commerce. From Napier .they will go to Hastings, where a similar function will be held by the Hastings Chamber of Commerce to-morrow. Dr. J. J. Foley, medical superintendent of the Napier Hospital, who has been on sick leave for the last three months, was present at yesterday'e meeting of the Hawke'B Bay Hospital Board looking greatly improved in health. He was warmly welcomed by the chairman, Mr C. Lassen, who expressed the hope that Dr. Foley 's health was fully restored. Dr. Foley briefly acknowledged the board 's good wishes.
