KING EDWARD'S SPEECH
American Records Although phonograph records of the farewell speech to the Eropire of King Edward VIII. axc being sold readily in the United States, such records cannot be bought in Australia. It is reported that 300 reeording companies in the United States are making these records, and that they are pelling at the rate of 300,000 a day. Apparently the only records of the speech available in Australia are those in the possession of the Australian Broadeasting Comraission. These records, like those being made in the United States, were reeorded direet from* the speech as broadcast. It is believed that, responding to an ofkeial suggestion, English companies did not make a reeording of tlie speech, and, consequently, only American recordings may be bought in England. The Australian Minister for Customs said that there was no ban upon the importation of the American records. He had made inquiries, and understood neithpr England nor Canada had placed a ban on them,
