Monthly Meeting of Town Board DOMAIN IMPROVEMENT The monthly meeting of the Havelock North Town Board was held last night, the chairman, Mr H. R. von Dadelszen, presiding over Messrs, A. Toop, E. C. Stratton, J. J. Nimon, W. J. Paton, A. R. Greenwood. The clerk, Mr W. H. Anderson, was also present. The arrangement made. by. the clerk with Mr R. B. Hammond, of the JVIinistry of Housing, in fixing the defined area was approved. The ^erk produced a plaa, showing the areas agreed upon, these containing' the older hduses in the town distriet. A motion of appreciation of the work done by the chairman and members of the roads committee and the clerk in connection with the new roading scheme was. carried unanimously. The clerk reported that it was hoped to start the tarring of the paths in the cemetery during, the next week. The clerk' s monthly report was as follows: — ■ * AU roads which were included in the programme have been sealed. The footpaths have also been completed. The building-up of ^Campbel] road between Fitzroy and Duart roads is well in hand. The preliminary arrangements in connection with the floating. of the roading loan have been completed and the loan money is now in hand. A large number of " residents have had the entrance drives of " their properties sealed by' the contractor and this work has added very much to the appearanc© of our roads. Residents who wish to have any work of this description done are advised.to get in touch with the office staff without delay. . , , ' The work of re-sealing Te Mata road was commenced yesterday and- will be completed on Monday. Electricity Department: General maintenance has been. carried out in all branches. Special attention has been,. given to the • main transmission line. and the street reticulation. One new connection has been 'made to tbe service • .' Water Pumping. — Pumped, 7,176,000 gallons ; - Consumed. 7,036,000 ' gallons ; Surplus, 140,000 gallons. ' ' If it is the intention of the -board to plant grass-seed on the new portion of the Domain we will need to get the grourid ready immediately and plant towards the end. of this month. The plantation of shrubs- there is doihg very well but that on the Hastings road is not making the progress that it should. This is due rri'ostly to stock interfering with the trees and to the fact that the Thousand-jacket trees get riddled with swamp borer and die off- at from 3 to 5 years old. • The appeal on behalf of the Fire" Brigade is meeting with a stea'dv response but -the amoimt received to date is considerahly less than that received at this period last year. A total of 400 drivers' licenses and 66 heavv traffic licences have been issued. • Accounts totalling £1050 15/8 were Passed for payment.
