DISNEY MAKING FULL-LENGTH CARTOON

Walt Disney, creator of Miekey Mouse, is now working on his fulllength cartoon, "Snow White," which will be the first cartoon of its kmd ever made. Disney has, during ihe past year, built up an entirely separato organisation to work on this cartoon. The cartoon will not be finished for another year. The difficulties involved in tho making of a 60-minute cartoon ara iinmense. But Disney, who more than auyone is responsible for bringing'the animated cartoon to its existing level of proficiency and populatity, has felt conlident of success ever since he determined to carr yout the project. . termined to carry out the project. One of the chief problems, Disney says, is; to get colour variation into the picture. More than 400 person* are now einployed at Disney 's studio. Two years ago the number " of jCiiimators, background artists, tracers, technicians, musicians .and other employees were only 150. This expansion is all the more extraordinary whon it is realised tnat the number of artists capable of doing animated cartoon work is very limitdd. Disney has now a training school at his studio for more than 100 artists. .They are carefully picked as the reaultof tests made in New York and else* where, but only about 30 out of the 100 will eventually secure jobs at the Disney studiG. The rest will have to find employment elsewhere. Artists aud musicians work separately, but each party f ollows closely a production chart drawn up by the cartocn director ' and musical direcfor in conjunction. Mr. Disney intends to continue to satirjse human personalties, as he satired them jn the cartoon "Who Killed Cock Eobin?" He says that, despite the criticism h« received over the satire in fWho Killed Cock Eobin?" he might use the same idea in "Eeynard the Pox." He would do so simply 'to provide a little vuriety for those who made the cartoons.
