Goveriunent's Arrangements For Workers

WELLINGTON, Last Night. Eegujations dealing with accommodation for agrieultural workers under the Agrieultural Workers Act were issued to-night. Tliey provide that separate accommodation must be provided whero both male and female workers are employed. The site must be suitable for ; the purpose and must be properly drain- ' ed and a sufficient distance from animai pens, stables and accnmulations of refuse or offensive matter. They shali preferably be well sheltered and kept clear of overgrowing vegetation. The floor must consist of wood or other approved material and have at least . six inches clearance from the ground. The walls must be lined and so constructed as to exclude wind and water. j The sleeping rooms must provide not less than 60 square feet of floor space for each occupant and shall be not less than 8 feet high i'n any part. Not more ; than two persons shall be required to j sleep in one room. Each bunk or bed j must be provided with a spring mattress ; or mattress of chaff, straw or kapoc. i Buitable heating appliances, lighting and ventilation must be provided. The sanitation provisions are also set out and if steam is used showers with | hot and Cold water shall be proVided for| workers. > Provision is also made for temporary: accommodation and except where only' one person is accommod'ated no person' shall sleep in the dining or cooking quarters.
