Big Hole Knocked in Chimney at Ashburton FARMER STRUCK

ASHBURTON, This Day. A severe electrical storm accompanied by heavy hail passed over last evening. Lightning knocked a big hole In the chimney of the Blackbridge cheese factory; a farmer in the district, Mr G. A. Parsons, was knocked down while milking and all the cows in the shed, lijcewise stock in the various paddoeks, were also knocked over. The whole telephone system at Hinds was out of order and telephones and lighting discrganiscd in Ashburton borough.
