Still another fink with the vvorld's earliesfc history has been uneai'thed at Sakkara by Mr Walter Emery, the British axchaeologist, who exeavated a tomb contaming the oniy body of the first dynasty yet found, namely Saou, provincial Governor % der Ring Azab, the fifth ruler of tli« first dynasty. The tombj dating approximately to 3200 B.C. had been piundered by aucient robbers, but the body was found at the bottom of a burial pit. Nearby was a broken ■ schist vase sculptured from a solid block ot slate and probably the finest known example of the work of the old kingdom. The excavators sifted sand for a week in their search for piecee oi v the vase. It is now restored and is exhibited in the Cairo Museura. A large collection of stone vessels was also found. Six boxes containmg wme and food, sustenance for Sabu's spirit, were grouped around the body
