Takapau Waf Relief. Mr. E. F. Stubbs presided at the monthly meeting of . the Takapau branch of the Hawke's Bay War Relief Association, when severai applications for assistance were dealt with in committee. A mimber of letters wero received from returned soldiers and de pendents, thanking the branch for as sistance that had been recently given Tennis Tournament. The Putorino , Pr.es byterian Church committee organised a tennis tournament on the court af Kotemaori. Piayers wero present from. Putorino, 'Ra.punga, Willow Plat and Kotemaori. Mr T. Halliburton thanked all present and also the Kotemaori Tennis Club for its cp-operation. Afternoon tea was served "by the ladies. The games resulted : — Mixed doubles . Mrs McArthur and Mr Smifch ; runnersup, Miss Gavin and Mr Sault. Men's doubles: Messrs Sault and Meta; run-ners-up, Messrs Hedley and Burgcsa.
