Fruitgrowers Seek Relief council's difficulty A request that the 10 per cent. penalty on rates levied on August 1 last should not be imposed nntil the 193738 fruit crop was harvested was received yesterday by the Hawke's Bay County Couiicil from the Hawke's Bay Fruitgrowers' Association. The chairman, Mr F. B. Logan, explarned that as the penalty had alreaJy been iniposed the eouneil had no power to removi; it. It was possible that the Governnient might carry on the legislation of the pievxous Government en- . abliug relief to be given in necessiious ^cuses jJnJess the necessary leg&i measures were fortbcoming the penalty could not be removed. He anticipated that relief would be given as had been previously exteuded.
