Previous Competition Recalled The interested spectators crowdiug the show ring at the Feilding Show on Tuesday included Mr. D. O'Sullivan, of Inglewood, who won the £500 Taranaki Jersey Oaks competition thirteen years ago at the Hawera Show with Meadowvale Perfect Day, a daughter of Sulfan'g Daisy, the world 's Tecord cow for all breeds for the five years 1919*1924. This notable heifer of Mr. 10 'Sullivan which is now 16 years of iage was by Perfection 's King, an out•standing sire, and she is still producing and breeding. The Taranaki Jersey iOaks, in which Mr. O'Sullivan 'a ex:hibit was successful, was the last imiportant competition of the kind and in 'this event Mr. O'Sullivan secured £295 in prize money, taking the first prize of £250 as well as several subsidiary prizes. The entries for the competition totalled 185 but only 22 or 23 came .forward for the final judging. Second prize money in this event was captured iby the well-known Feilding district Jersey breeder Mr. Cyril Dermer, with "Waipiko Jolly. Discussing his success at Hawera, Mr. O'Sullivan said that Meadowvale Perfect Day as a junior produced 5741bs. of fat and as a senior her production roSe to 6111bs. while at one stage of her career she produced three calves within; twenty-four months. Meadowvale Perfect Day was an , outstanding success and overshadowed all competitors including R. L. Horn's noted champion of the day Kuku Brooklet. Her sons and daughters achieved fame in the show ring at the Waikato shows and in the Manawatu.
